Avoid File Issues
JPG’s and GIFs are two of the most popular image formats found on the web. On a computer monitor these images appear crisp and clean, however, when they are enlarged for printing the result is an inferior pixelated image. Our art staff can use these images as reference for re-drawing, if applicable. Art charges will accrue for time spent re-drawing these images based on the complexity of the final artwork. We use images and designs in a Vector format (EPS, Adobe Illustrator, etc.) versus a “Bitmap” format (internet images, .gif, .jpg, .bmp, etc.), for the best result. Please avoid using a “scanned image” or images from websites and the internet as they are not only bitmaps but usually only 72 DPI (dots per inch) and very low resolution, which results in a low quality print. We require 300 DPI images to maintain print clarity and quality.
- If your file is not 300 dpi, you cannot just increase the resolution of the file. This is called “upsampling” and will result in a blurry image. If you are creating your file in Adobe Illustrator or another Vector-based software, just size your image to the size you want it to print.
